The Borderland series of urban fantasy novels and stories were created for teenage readers by Terri Windling. "Privies in Case of Siege": Expeditions 21 and 22 at the Fort Morgan Citadel. By: Shorter, George.(Cordell Ann S). Price: $ Publisher: Alabama Historical Commission,

The Civil War has usually been described as a conflict between two wholly distinct sections, abruptly divided by state boundary lines. It grew out of the controversy over slavery, it is said, and was waged on the one side by slaveholders and their misguided neighbors, while on the other side the people of the North fought to emancipate the slaves and to maintain the Union. When Union and Confederate forces invaded the Southwest, Anglo soldiers, Hispanos, and sedentary Indian tribes forged alliances that allowed them to collectively wage a relentless war on Apaches, Comanches, and Navajos. Mexico’s civil war and European intervention served only to enlarge the conflict in the borderlands.
